Asbestos Analysis Laboratory Technician

Laboratory Technician/Analyst needed at Applied Laboratory Services, an asbestos analytical laboratory in Norfolk, Virginia.

The analyst will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks using microscopes and laboratory apparatus, including analysis of samples for all types of asbestos and mold, preparing lab reports, and other laboratory activities.

Required qualifications include a BS or BA in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or any scientific discipline. Microscopical identification of asbestos experience is preferred and training will be provided in all procedures. Relevant laboratory experience is a plus.

Industrial Hygiene Technicians needed for projects in Hampton Roads. This is a full-time immediate position.

Applied Laboratory Services is a full services environmental, health, and safety consulting firm. No experience is necessary, company will provide all necessary training associated with the position and required for appropriate Commonwealth of Virginia licensing.

Responsibilities and duties will include overseeing, documenting, and air monitoring associated with remediation of hazardous materials/remediation projects, and other industrial hygiene/ environmental projects associated with renovations and/or demolition projects.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

Stokes Environmental Associates, an established environmental consulting firm in Norfolk, Virginia, has an immediate opening for Accounting Manager to manage all financial functions of the firm and serve as a financial liaison on the company’s leadership and executive team.

1. Advise, organize, and execute the company’s financial strategy.
2. Handle and oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, cash flow, budget, forecasting and reporting, and bank reconciliations.
3. Manage time records, payroll, paid time off, and employee benefit program.
4. Prepare income statements, balance sheets, financial reports, and prepare documentation to be used for annual financial reports.
5. Assist with planning and development of financial goals and objectives, and advise on financial strategy and growth.


1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or other closely related field preferred.
2. Minimum of five years professional accounting office experience and prior supervisory experience.
3. Excellent working knowledge of accounting software and data management programs.
4. Knowledge of accounting practices, regulations, and standards.
5. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
6. Great communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Proven organizational and analytical skills, as well as meticulous attention to detail.
8. Capability to multitask, prioritize competing responsibilities, problem-solve, give and take direction, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
