Background

Wetland Professional/Project Manager is needed for a full-time permanent position at Stokes Environmental Associates, a small environmental consulting firm in Norfolk, Virginia.

The successful candidate will have at least one year experience performing wetland delineations and/or preparing permit applications. The wetland professional will become a member of our team of wetland and environmental professionals serving clients in southeast Virginia. We seek a multi-talented professional for continued business growth.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position includes performing tidal and non-tidal wetland delineations and preparing permit applications. In addition to wetland services, you will have opportunities to expand your skills and participate in additional consulting services areas within the company’s range of services.

QUALIFICATIONS

BS or higher degree in environmental science, ecology, geology, biology, chemistry, natural resources, environmental engineering, or related degree.

Specialized knowledge and expertise in wetland science, regulation, or permitting. This includes knowledge of the plants, soil types, and hydrology indicators typically found in southeast Virginia. Experience with wetland permitting programs of the US Army Corps of Engineers and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality is a plus.

Good spoken and written communication skills are essential.

Stokes Environmental Associates, Ltd. (SEA) located in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking a full-time Senior Environmental Professional for immediate hire.

This position will provide opportunities for professional development in key technical skills and project management ability. The ideal candidate is expected to be a multi-talented professional with good communication skills, good technical writing capabilities, and the ability to work independently within a professional and team-oriented environment. Individual must possess strong organizational skills, be highly motivated, and remain client focused.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years experience performing at least one of the following services: Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation investigations, NEPA Assessments, wetland delineations, or industrial hygiene services. A bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or higher in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Earth Science, Geography, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline is required, and an advanced degree is a plus. Physical ability to perform field work, collect environmental samples and data, and navigate industrial sites or uneven terrain in the natural environment are required.

SEA’s service area is concentrated in Hampton Roads, southeastern Virginia, and northeastern North Carolina. There will be balanced opportunities for working in the outdoors as well as performing the necessary office tasks.

Laboratory Technician/Analyst needed at Applied Laboratory Services, an asbestos analytical laboratory in Norfolk, Virginia.

The analyst will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks using microscopes and laboratory apparatus, including analysis of samples for all types of asbestos and mold, preparing lab reports, and other laboratory activities.

Applied Laboratory Services is a full services environmental, health, and safety consulting firm. No experience is necessary, company will provide all necessary training associated with the position and required for appropriate Commonwealth of Virginia licensing.

Responsibilities and duties will include overseeing, documenting, and air monitoring associated with remediation of hazardous materials/remediation projects, and other industrial hygiene/ environmental projects associated with renovations and/or demolition projects.

Stokes Environmental Associates, an established environmental consulting firm in Norfolk, Virginia, has an immediate opening for Accounting Manager to manage all financial functions of the firm and serve as a financial liaison on the company’s leadership and executive team.

1. Advise, organize, and execute the company’s financial strategy.
2. Handle and oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, cash flow, budget, forecasting and reporting, and bank reconciliations.
3. Manage time records, payroll, paid time off, and employee benefit program.
4. Prepare income statements, balance sheets, financial reports, and prepare documentation to be used for annual financial reports.
5. Assist with planning and development of financial goals and objectives, and advise on financial strategy and growth.

Qualifications
