From 1999 to the present day, Stokes Environmental Associates (SEA) successfully secured full regulatory approval for and actively manages the Lower James River Wetland Mitigation Bank, along with various other wetland mitigation initiatives. These efforts encompass over 4,000 acres of restored, preserved, or managed habitats, all in strict adherence to federal and state guidelines.

SEA performed all operations, including: mitigation feasibility assessments, site selection and analysis,  mitigation plan preparation, obtaining agency approvals, site acquisition, site construction and planting, compliance monitoring and reporting, and commercial mitigation bank operation.

SEA also successfully executed all tasks essential for establishing conservation easements and securing approved Virginia tax credits at various sites in Hampton Roads, ranging in size from less than 1 acre to more than 500 acres.
